Debra “Debi” Morton Rhoden, 67 of Lake City, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She was born on February 15, 1956 in Lake City to her parents, Kenneth Alonzo Morton and Doris Harrington Morton. Mrs. Rhoden was a lifelong resident of Lake City, a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1974 and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed crafting, fishing, shopping cooking and most of all, spending time with her family. Mrs. Rhoden was a devoted mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She was always there to provide them with support, encouragement and her opinion. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Milton and Agnes Harrington Wheeler, her father, Kenneth Alonzo Morton; and her best friend since the 2nd grade, Voncile Creamer.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Marcus K. Rhoden, Lake City; her mother, Doris Harrington Morton, Lake City; her two children, Mandy Rhoden (Brad Federico), Lake City and Corey Rhoden, Lake City; her brother, Kevin Morton (Suzanne), Lake City; two grandchildren, Madison Rhoden and Mason Federico both of Lake City; numerous family members including, Clifton Crowder, Lake City, Hoyle Crowder Jr. (Heather), Lindsey Pridgeon (George), Perry, FL, Melanie Lockwood, Lake City and Scott Morton (Lindsey), Lake City; The immediate family would like for nieces, Angela Turbeville (Mikey Hathcox), Lake City and Becky Stephenson (Preston), White Springs to know that the hospital visits, phone calls and willingness to help with any and everything meant the world to Debi and the family. Debi was blessed with lifetime friends, Carolyn Creamer (Roger), Lake City and Lisa Stewart, Jacksonville, that also provided unmeasurable amounts of love, interest and concern.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Corinth Cemetery, near her longtime home, north of Lake City. A time of visitation with family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
