Colonel Hardy Abraham, 71 of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the Lake City Medical Center in Lake City. He was born in Raiford, Florida and attended school in Jacksonville at Terry Parker High School and graduated from Wolfson High School class of 1968. Mr. Abraham had been a resident of Lake City for the past 13 years and had previously been a longtime resident of Jacksonville. He worked for 27 years with Bennett’s Business Systems in Jacksonville. Mr. Abraham was currently serving as a Sargent with the Florida Department of Corrections at RMC in Lake Butler, having retired and returned to work in 2016. Mr. Abraham attended the New Life Christian Fellowship Church in Lake City. He enjoyed fishing, going to the beach and watching football, especially the Miami Dolphins. Mr. Abraham was preceded in death by his parents, Adeeb “Debo” Abraham and Lavonne Glisson Abraham.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Elaine Alexander Abraham, Lake City; two sons, Brian Abraham (Amy), Lake Butler and Michael Abraham (Erin), Laramie, WY; one brother, Billy Abraham (Janet), New Smyrna Beach, FL; seven grandchildren, Clay Abraham, Bronson, Deanna Bullard (Hunter), Lake City, Eric Abraham (Addison), Gainesville, Brett Abraham, Lake Butler and Brendan Hummel (Janissa Martinez), Dustin Abraham and Rebecca Abraham all of Laramie, WY; 1 great-grandchild and 1 great-grandchild due in October of 2021 also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Buddy Malloy officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
