Chandubhai Haribhai Patel

Chandubhai Haribhai Patel, son of Haribhai Dhoribhai Patel and Dahiben Patel, was born on June 8, 1931 in the state of Gujarat, India. He was the fifth of seven siblings.

Surrounded by loving family and friends, Chandubhai's gentle spirit passed away peacefully at home in Lake City, Florida on July 23, 2020.

C.H., as he was called by many, lived a full and expansive life in five countries, India, Uganda, Tanzania, England, and America, adding to his vast network of friends who very quickly became family. He engaged in many endeavors from the medical field to banking to hospitality. He was a man of the world, and was always in search of the next challenge. In his fifties , when most people would be planning retirement, he moved to America and started a new life, engaged in new ventures, and created a new network of friends.


Chandubhai viewed his purpose in life as serving selflessly and helping all who were in need. He connected with people, regardless of status or age, and would light up a room with his beautiful smile and make people feel that they were some how very special. He never met a stranger and related to others in his own unique way, sometimes without even an exchange of words. He found beauty in all living things and peace in nature.


Chandubhai will be remembered for his immense mental discipline and strength in facing and overcoming adversity and challenges. He accomplished this with unfaltering faith, determination, courage, and his ability to smile in the midst of enormous hardships, even then maintaining kindness and generosity to all around him.


He was married to Shantaben ( deceased) and is survived by his children Minesh, Alka, and Rupal; brother Ashokbhai; sisters-in-law; cousins; nephews and nieces; as well as his world family.
