Carole Jean Green

Carole Jean Green, 80, of Lake Placid, formerly of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, May 4, 2023 after an extended illness. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 7, 1942 to the late Joel Francis Grimmett and Bessie Evans Pearson Grimmett. She worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital for a number of years as the Secretary to the Chief of Nursing before transferring to the Means Test Unit Staff before her retirement. Carole loved her children, she also enjoyed gardening, canning, and loved to cook & entertain. One of her great pleasures was spending time at her home in the mountains of North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Butch” Green.

She is survived by her daughters, Lorri Watson & husband George of Venus, FL, and Linda Wilson & husband Brian of Smithfield N.C.; sister, Barbara Daniels of Lake City, FL; Nephews Tim Grimmett of Lake City, FL, and Michael Grimmett of Pompano Beach, FL;  step-daughter Vennie Hanes & husband Bobby of Murfreesboro TN and Step-son, David Green & wife Olga of Lake City, FL. Grandsons Michael Smith & wife Laura of Wendell N.C., Ryan Hanes & wife Katie Jo of Murfreesboro TN and David Green Jr. of  Lake City, FL; and great-grandchildren, Quinn Smith, Oakley & June Hanes. In addition she is also survived by very close friends Teresa London & Sue Yost, along with many extended family members.

A funeral service for Mrs. Green will be conducted on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Branford, FL. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 11, 2023 prior to the service at the funeral home.
