Captain Charles Samuel "Chuck" Brewington, Jr., 54, of Fort White, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 26, 2022. He was born in Williston, Florida on September 17, 1968. He has made the Fort White area his home most of his life and worked in law enforcement; starting his career with the High Springs Police Department, then moving to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office in 1991, where he was currently the Captain over the Judicial Services Division. During Chuck’s time with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office he served in various special teams such as a member of the Drug Interdiction Unit, K9 and the CCSO Dive Team. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #893 and was a past member of the Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed being with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, going to the river and riding his side-by-side ATV. Chuck was loved by all who met him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Trish Hosford Brewington of Fort White; son, Chase Brewington (Chelsea) of Lake City and his step-son, James Kell Prevatt of Lake City; grandchildren, Brayden, Tyton and Brynleigh Brewington all of Lake City; his parents, Charles Samuel Brewington and Carolyn Jean McLeod Brewington of Fort White; siblings, Robin Hunter (Jamie) of Gilchrist County, Ramon Brewington (Theresa) of Gainesville and Richard Brewington (Robyn) of Gilchrist County. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Buddy & Jenny Hosford, along with niece and nephew, Oliva & Noah. Many extended family members, friends and several other nieces and nephews also survive.
A Funeral Service for Captain Brewington will be conducted on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in the Hopeful Baptist Church with Dr. Billy Young, Honorable Leandra Johnson and Ret. Colonel Wallace Kitchings officiating. Interment will follow in the Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Thursday afternoon, December 1, 2022 from 3:00-6:00 P.M. at Hopeful Baptist Church.
