Billy Marion Kirk, 75, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born in Princeton, West Virginia on December 4, 1947 to the late Lowie Garfield Kirk and Addis Emma Bowman Kirk. He has made Lake City his home since 2013, moving here from the New Jersey area. He owned and operated his own yacht building company, Dunn-Kirk, Inc. for many years before ill health forced him to retire in 2008. In his spare time, he enjoyed working with his hands, building many things for many people and woodworking. He is preceded in death by his seven siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Andrea Kirk of Lake City; his step sons, Rick Cabrera (Laura) of Lake City and Jose Cabrera (Eudalia) of Homosassa; and his step-daughter, Ivette Soto (Eduardo) of Ozark, AL; brothers, Garfield Kirk of West Virginia; and three sisters, Norma Jean Kirk of California, Linda Kirk of West Virginia and Shirley Kirk of West Virginia. Six grandchildren, Giampaolo Cabrera, Giovanni Cabrera, Eillen Cabrera, Angel Cabrera, Eduardo Soto and Tashara Jasmine Soto; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren along with his special nephews, Danny, David and Allen Kirk also survive.
A funeral service for Mr. Kirk will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Princeton, West Virginia. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 5, 2023 prior to the service.
