Billie Lou Roper Taylor, 76 of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at home with her family by her side. She was a daughter to the late Thomas W. “Bill” Roper and Thetus Iola Harrell Roper. Ms. Taylor was raised in Live Oak, a graduate of Suwannee High School class of 1962 and had made Lake City her home since 1985. She was raised in the Church of Christ faith. Her love was spending time with her family, being a fulltime grandmother and cooking for her family, especially for the holidays. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Tommy Roper Sr. and her former husband and father of her children, James R. Taylor, Sr.
Survivors include her three children, Jamie Taylor (Michael), Jim Taylor (Amber) and Jonathan Taylor all of Lake City; five grandchildren, Dylan Taylor, Ohio, Makenna Melanson (Brian), Hampton, VA, Lindsey Langston, Megan Grubb and Trace Taylor, all of Lake City; and one great-grandson, Jace Taylor, Ohio.
Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor will be conducted on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 4:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Henry Ortiz officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
