Betty S. Etheridge

Mrs. Betty S. Etheridge, 93, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, January 4, 2022 after an extended illness. She was born in Lexington, South Carolina on January 26, 1928 to the late Julian and Lena Stone. She met and married George Etheridge and they moved to Lake City in 1949, where she has lived most of her life since. She and George started Etheridge Furniture Company in 1964, and worked there until she was 93 years old, where she worked five days a week. She was very active in the First Baptist Church, and her faith & family were the most important things to her. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, George Etheridge in 2006.

She is survived by her son, Brooks Etheridge of Lake City; daughters, Becky Todd (Mike) of Lake City, Tere Hoechst (David) of Athens, GA and Nancy Westberry (Doug) of Orange Park, FL. Seven grandchildren, Chris Todd, Josh Todd (Amanda), Whitney Barfield (Ed), Ben Egger, Erin Westberry, Amanda Westberry Dunlap (Adam), and Della Katharine Crone (Andrew) and ten great-grandchildren also survive.

A funeral service for Mrs. Etheridge will be conducted on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Bass officiating. Interment will follow. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. in the church fellowship hall prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations please be considered to the First Baptist Church of Lake City.
