Alton Carl “A.C.” Milton, 87 years old, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City after a lengthy illness. He was born in Columbia County to the late Orrin and Lossie Mae King Milton and grew up in the Deep Creek Community. Mr. Milton was a veteran of the Florida National Guard and attended school in Columbia County. He was one of the founders of the Peoples State Bank and served on the Board of Directors for many years. Mr. Milton was a people person and throughout his life he owned and operated numerous businesses, including Sunshine True Value Hardware, Sunshine Electric and Plumbing Supply and Grand Rental Station. Mr. Milton was a member of the Deep Creek Advent Christian Church and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and farming. His motto was “Anything you can conceive and believe, you can achieve”. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Leslie Milton and his wife, Eula Mae; one grandson, Matthew Milton; and his son-in-law, Tommy Hosford.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mearl Jenkins Milton; daughters, Carolyn Hosford, Carla Cowen (David) and Cheryle Nettles (Jimmy); sons, Hank Milton and Al Milton (Laura) all of Lake City; 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service honoring Mr. Milton will be conducted on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. A visitation with the family will be prior to the service on Tuesday from 12:45PM to 1:45 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Deep Creek Advent Christian Church at 287 NE Buck Master Gln, Lake City, FL 32055.
