Dr. William D. Wood, 83 of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City.  He was born in Headland, Alabama in 1932 to the late Willis T. Wood and Flora Cashwell Wood and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  Dr. Wood had lived in Lake City since 2000 and was a former Interim Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Lake City, former Pastor of Parkview Baptist Church and served in numerous Baptist Churches in the Lake City area and across Florida and Georgia.  He enjoyed playing golf and he loved his peanuts.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Freddie Rogers and Harold Wood, and a sister, Mavis Campbell.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Eleanor Everson Wood, Lake City; his son, Ricky Wood, Brooklet, GA; his daughter, Vicki Todd, Lake City; two sisters, Cherry Mathis, Apalachacola, FL and Bobbye Glass, Colquitt, GA; one grandson, David Wood, and extended family Angie Wood, Tony Henriques, Miranda Minick, James Walker and Jordan Huber.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, August 9th, 2015 at 3 P.M.  at New Oak Grove Baptist Church, Alachua, FL  with Dr. David Taylor and Pastor Terry Elixson officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church from  2 P.M. to 3 P.M.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Oak Grove Baptist Church, 18100 NW 262 Av., Alachua, FL  32615.  Arrangements are under the direction of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN Funeral Home, Lake City.  Please leave words of comfort for the family at www.gatewayforestlawn.com
