March 28, 1937 – April 2, 2025
William Henry Kirby, 88, of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 2, 2025 at the Malcolm Randall Veterans Administration Hospital in Gainesville after an extended illness. He was born in the Watertown area of Lake City on March 28, 1937 to the late Sim Kirby and Mae Bullard Kirby. He was a life-long resident of Lake City and was a US Army Veteran. In his spare time, Mr. Kirby enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family, including his "fur kid", Margot. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Verona Lee Kirby; his brother, Robert K. Kirby; and his sisters, Anna Mae Rodgers and Josephine A. LeClerc.
He is survived by his two daughters, Wilma Jean Bringger (Rick) and Sandie Lee Nobles; brothers, James A. Kirby, Harry F. Kirby, Sim H. Kirby, Jr. and Clifford J. Kirby. Four grandchildren, Brandon Cole Nobles, Ridge Roman Bringger, Ashley Lauren Jones (Robby) and Madeline Amelia Mabile (Hunter); two great-grandchildren, Gordon Jones and Aidan Nobles; along with numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Monday, April 7, 2025 in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Robert H. Jenkins Veterans Domiciliary Home in Lake City.
