William Joseph Kinney, 87 of White Springs, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville. He was born the youngest of five children to the late Frank and Eva Carey Kinney, in Shaftsbury, Vermont. Mr. Kinney had made his home in White Springs since 1994 having previously lived in the South Florida area. He was a veteran and served our country in the United States Navy. Mr. Kinney was of the Catholic faith and a member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Lake City. He loved cooking, and most of the time too much. Mr. Kinney also loved working and being in his yard, and taking drives around town. This year was special for Mr. Kinney because he was able to see his beloved Los Angeles Dodgers win the 2024 World Series. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cheryl Kinney; two brothers, Frances Kinney and Thomas Kinney; and two sisters, Mary Greene and Kathy Hurley.
Survivors include his children, Glenn Gonzalves (Danette), Cape Cod, MA, Kim Helms (Fred), Lisa Huntzberry (Richard) and Billie Kinney all of Lake City, and Marrie Carr (Charles), Hoosick Falls, NY; six grandchildren, William, Brent, Jennifer, Olivia, Amanda and Lauren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Kinney will be conducted on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 3:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
