Mr. William A. Jones, 78 of Lake City, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Lake City Medical Center in Lake City.  He was a lifelong resident of Lake City and the sixth child of seven to the late Gussie and Eva Mae Finley Jones and was of the Baptist faith.  Mr. Jones was a lifelong farmer and rancher and enjoyed tending to honey bees and grafting fruit trees.  He enjoyed hunting, saltwater fishing and spending time with his family, children and grandchildren.  Mr. Jones was preceded in death by one grandson, William H. Jones, one great-grandson, Jesse Chicas, his brother, John C. Jones and three sisters, Bernice Morton, Martel Pettus and Grace Roberts.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carolyn D. Jones, Lake City; 7 children, Billy Jones (Connie), Lulu, Jimmy Jones (Brenda), Lake City, Alan Jones, Live Oak, Rhonda Crews (John Paul), Lake City, Debbie Jones (Warren Duchesne), Monroe, LA, Brenda Delk (Allen), Lake City and Gus Jones (Cathy), Lake City; two sisters, Daisy Mae Jones and Pearl Ellzey both of Lake City; 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, May 16, 2016 in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Zac Douglas and Brandon Britton officiating.  Interment will follow at Bethel United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday afternoon from 3-5:00 pm at the funeral home.
