Mrs. Willene Turner McOwen, 101, of Fort White, passed away on December 23, 2025. She was born on June 30, 1924 in Branford, Florida to George Lane and Willie Buchanan Lane. She graduated from Fort White High school in 1942 and moved to Gainesville, Florida where she worked as a Clearance Officer at Stengel Field. She then went to Washington, D.C. and worked in the office of personnel for the Foreign Economic Administration.

Mrs. McOwen is preceded in death by four husbands, William Herman Terry, R.J. Turner, Jr., George Milton Bradley and Dr. James McOwen; two sisters, Louise Swails and Helen Bailey; and three brothers, Edward Lane, Wayne Lane and George Hillman Lane.

She is survived by her three children, Betty Hudspeth of Gainesville, Debrah Strother (Mark) of Santa Fe, NM, and Joe Turner (Linda) of Fairview, TN. Seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. McOwen for a little over 50 years, taught Sunday School off and on; and currently she was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Fort White. She loved helping people, working in her yards and working as a Sunshine Lady at the VA Hospital in Lake City.

A funeral service for Mrs. McOwen will be conducted on Monday morning, December 29, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Elder Joe Turner and Pastor Danny Rogers officiating.
