Wilfredo "Ogie" Santos Gruta, 48, of Lake City Florida, passed away peacefully, December13, 2014, at Haven Hospice after a short and valiant fight against cancer. Ogie was a great inspiration of faith and absolute obedience to God's will.
Ogie was born in Manila, Philippines on January 18, 1966 to Ruben & Ester Gruta. He worked as a Medical Technologist at Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center. He was an active member of Couples for Christ in Lake City, Florida.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Joan Llegado and six-year old son, Inigo; parents Ruben & Ester; parents -in-law Simon & Jossie Llegado; sisters Tess Ellis, Solly De Torres, Monica Solis & Joy Vicente; brothers Butch, Ronnie, Sammy and Ramon; brothers and sisters - in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Ogie is preceded in death by his youngest brother, Gabby.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 4 PM until 8 PM at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, located at 3596 US Hwy 441, Lake City, FL. A Funeral Mass will be held at Epiphany Catholic Church, 1905 SW Epiphany Ct. Lake City, FL on Saturday, December 20th at 12 noon with Fr. Michael Pendergraft officiating. Cremation will follow.
