Watkins Adams Saunders, Jr., 94, of White Springs, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, December 3, 2023 after an extended illness. He was born in White Springs on November 27, 1929 to the late Watkins Adams Saunders, Sr. and Lillian Shipp Saunders. He has made the White Springs area his home most all of his life and was a member of the White Springs Methodist Church. He served his country in the United States Navy and also worked for PCS/OXY for a number of years. Once he retired from PCS, he then remodeled a family home in White Springs, which he turned into a bed and breakfast that he ran for a little over 10 years. He was an avid Florida Gator Fan who in his spare time, enjoyed hunting, traveling, skiing when he was younger and helping his family, church family and community. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Catherine Paisley, Sophia Falt and Edward Saunders (Harriett of Everett, WA); as well as his nephew, Fred Paisley (Diane of Philadelphia, PA).

He is survived by his cousins Jane Dommerich Hill (Peter) Palm Beach, FL; Ann Saurman, Winter Park, FL; and Polly Grey, Jacksonville, FL.  He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Peter Paisley of Tucson, AZ; Allen Saunders (Laurie) of Stanwood, WA; Katie Haeussler (Peter) of Chugiak, AK; Bill Saunders (Gayle) of Duvall, WA and Julie Dicks (Mark) of Gainesville, FL. Many great nieces and nephews also survive.

A funeral service for Mr. Saunders will be conducted on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the White Springs Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at the church.
