Walter Allen Davis, 72, went home to the Lord on July 26, 2025, after a brief illness, at his home in Fort White, Florida. Walt was born on December 19, 1952 in Tampa, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mary Davis; brothers Tom Davis, Jr., William Davis, and sister, Molly Davis. He was also a devoted son-in-law to the late Jack & Loree Jackson. Walt graduated from Robinson High School in Tampa, Florida and earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminology from Florida State University. He served his country in the Army National Guard of Florida. Walt was a member of Saint James Episcopal Church and was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 27 in Lake City, Florida. After many years of service, Walt retired from the Florida Department of Corrections- Probation & Parole, Columbia County Sheriff's Department, and the Columbia County School System. Walt was a true family man and avid outdoorsmen. Spending time with his beloved family, deer hunting in Alabama, cooking, camping with friends, and watching Florida Gator football were just a few of his most favorite things. Walt is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lynn; his sons Travis Sandlin (Mellissa); Todd Sandlin (Sarah); his daughter Ashley Phillips (Heath); and his sister-in-law, Mrs. Telsie E. Davis of Montgomery, Alabama. He was affectionately known as PopPop to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Gracie, Sydnie, Landon, Allie, Addison, Alex (Libbi), Adam, and Avery; great-grandchildren Saylor, Marcy, Corbin, Memphis, Creed, and Cyrus.Walt was also a special uncle to several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Walt's life will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Lake City, Fl. on August 7, 2025 at 2:00 in the afternoon. Interment will be held privately at Memorial Cemetery.
