Obituary

Mrs. Vivian Kirby Williams, (1932-2025), age 92 of Lake City, FL died after a brief illness on January 4, 2025. Vivian was born in Columbia City, FL on December 25, 1932 to Stanley Plato, Sr. and Edna Gaylard Kirby. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1951, earned her B.S. Degree from Valdosta State University in 1967 and her M.S. Degree from Florida State University in 1985. She made a career as a school teacher having taught for 27 years; five years in Adel, GA, two years in Carrabelle, FL and twenty years in Lake City, FL at Melrose Park Elementary. Vivian dearly loved her family including her four children, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She loved gardening, sewing, cross stitching, playing parlor games and reading. She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved her church work. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Henry Franklin Williams (1994), her parents, Stanley P., Sr. and Edna Kirby, siblings Marie (Christy) Dale, Juanita (John) Bryant, Stanley "Plato", Jr. (Beneta) Kirby, and Erston Kirby

Mrs. Williams is survived by her sister, Alice Kirby Wells, Lake City; one brother, Don "Donny" (Mary) Kirby, Muldoon, TX; sister in law Carolyn Kirby Lake City; children, Vivian "Carol" (Mike) Harnage, Sparks, GA, Robert "Danny" (Shirley) Williams, Lake City, Kysandra "Sandy" (Jim) Ladner, Cairo, GA, Margaret "Margie" (Charles) Alston, St. Augustine; grandchildren, Pam Harnage, DeeDee (Nick) Griffin, Lee (Madison) Harnage, Christopher (Renee) Williams, Katherine Williams, David Leslie, Saleeta (Doyle) Cook, Ashley (Kurt) Murrell, Savannah Alston, Alex Alston, and Andrew Alston; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Griffin, Taylor (Tyler) Bethea, Marie (Miguel) Herrera, Joseph (Shyann) Ijames, Hailey Leslie, Robert Leslie, Charlie Sue Cook, Kirby Cook, Liam Murrell, and Holden Murrell; great-great grandchildren, Payton Bethea, Surina Herrera, Brooklyn Herrera, Miles Ijames, Michael Ijames, and Maverick Ijames.

Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be held at Athens Baptist Church on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Don Kirby officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00 A.M. (one hour before service at the church). Interment will follow at Athens Baptist Church Cemetery.
