Mr. Turner Lewis Hoots, 57 of Lake City, Florida, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida. He was born in Homestead, Florida to the late Furman Turner and Mary Sue Moore Hoots. Mr. Hoots had recently made his home in Lake City having previously lived in Franklin, Tennessee, Hendersonville, North Carolina and was a longtime resident of Englewood, Florida. He retired in 1999 from Publix Supermarkets as a meat market manager and had worked in several locations including, Englewood, Venice, Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda. Following his retirement he volunteered for many Englewood area organizations including the Englewood Hospital and Lemon Bay High School, assisting with sports and the annual Christmas tree stand for Project Graduation. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Hoots.
Survivors include two brothers, Herman Hoots (Vicki) and Larry Hoots (Wanda); two sisters, Dolores Tyre (Jerry) and Lily Voorhees (Gary); one aunt, Wilma Moore; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
