August 23, 1947 – September 1, 2024
Thomas Lowell Stout, Sr., 77 of Lake City, passed away unexpectantly on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at this home. He was born in Dallas, Texas, the second oldest of five children, to the late Thomas Edward Stout and Lorraine Little Stout. Mr. Stout served our country in the United States Marine Corps. His service in the Marine Corps included two combat tours in Vietnam and he also played linebacker on the Marine Corps football team. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, and following his service in the Marine Corps, he played on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad. Mr. Stout had made his home in Lake City since 1994 having previously lived in Live Oak and Gainesville. He worked for 20 years with Liberty National Life Insurance Company in both the Live Oak and Gainesville offices. Mr. Stout was of the Baptist faith and had been a member of Old Providence Baptist Church in Lake Butler for the past 9 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cynthia Mills "Cindy" Stout in 2012; two sons, Robert Michael "Robby" Stout in 1994 and Kevin Wade in 2022; and three siblings, Dennis Stout, Sandra Shackleford and Charles Bradshaw.
Survivors include his two sons, Thomas L. Stout, II (Staci), Ocala and Tim Stout (Jucinda), Lake Butler; one sister, Cathy Greer, Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Stout will be conducted on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tim Stout officiating. Interment with military honors will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Florida. A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel on Saturday.
