Thomas H. "Tommy" Lee, 85, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, July 18, 2024 at the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, after a brief illness. He was born in Folkston, Georgia on October 3, 1938 to the late Henry Lee and Nella Hodges Lee. He has made Lake City his home for the last twenty years, moving here from Hilliard, Florida area. He worked for over 29 years with W.W. Gay, where he was Engineer and Crain Operator; but most of all, he was a Farmer and enjoyed tending to his cattle and showing them with his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as puzzles. He was a member of the Lakeview Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Lee; and his sister, Betty Rowe.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 24 years, Mary J. Lee of Lake City, FL; children, Ronnie Lee (Karen ) of Hilliard, FL, Linda Lee of Starke, FL and Tana Lee Cash of Locus Grove, GA; step-daughters, Donna Graham (Kevin) of Lake City, Florida and Mary Ann Laughren (Larmer) of Tennesse; one brother, Troy Lee (Kathy) of Yulee, Florida and three sisters, Geneva Smith (Roland) of Hilliard, Florida, Joyce Lawson of Callahan, Florida and Alice Lee of Yulee, Florida. Nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.
A funeral service for Mr. Lee will be conducted on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Edenfield officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Sunday afternoon, July 21, 2024 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
