Thomas Christian "Chris" Cox, 54, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at the HCA Florida – North Florida Hospital in Gainesville, after a brief illness. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 8, 1969 to the late Dennis Wayne Cox and the late Barbara Ann Cox-Robinson. He has made the Lake City area his home most of his life; and worked for Ascent Gear for a little over 10 years as a Machine Operator. He was an avid FSU football fan and a Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan; and in his spare time, loved playing video games, loved to be a comedian and being a jokester among his family and friends; as well as loved photography. He is preceded in death by two nephews.

He is survived by his wife of 6 ½ years, Tracie Aaron Alvarez; brother, Travis Cox (Jenn); and sisters, Tina Sherrod (Walt) and Tari Johnson (Josh); step-children, Austin McCall and Skylar Hernandez. Eight nieces and nephews, Triniti Cox, Joseph Danella, Liam Cox, Kolby Sherrod, Tripp Johnson, Jubilee Johnson, Miranda Hysell (Cody) and Brock Sherrod (Stephenie) along with four step-grandchildren also survive.

A memorial service for Chris will be conducted at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
