Obituary

Terry R. Hancock, 73, of Lake City, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025 in Lake City after a sudden illness. He was born in Orlando, Florida on November 30, 1951 to the late Clifford Elisha Hancock and Jewell Janet Hawkins Hancock. He has made Lake City his home for the last 50 years and was a US Army Vietnam Veteran. He loved working and tinkering on computers as well as playing board games; but what he was most know for was being the "Lake City Flag Waver", standing on the corner of Baya Ave. and Main Blvd with his American Flag, smiling and waving to the members of the community on their commutes to work and schools in the mornings. He is preceded in death by his life partner of over 40 years, Darlene Belle Adair; and his brothers, Thomas Elisha Hancock and Daryl Ennis Hancock.

He is survived by his siblings, Doreen Hancock Waters (Mitch), Josephine "Joanne" Mills, Phillip Alan Hancock and Bonnie Hancock Smith all of Lake City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The family will have a community gathering/meeting on Wednesday morning, October 29, 2025 at 8:00 A.M. at the corner of Baya Ave. and Main Blvd in Mr. Hancock's Honor.
