Mr. Ted O. Whiddon, 90, of Lake City died Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hospice Unit. A native of Seffner, FL, Mr. Whiddon was the son of the late Major and Ethel McGill Whiddon. He had lived in Lake City since 1958 and had previously lived in Quincy, FL and Tifton, Georgia. A World War II Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Whiddon had retired as a Pilot for the Florida Division of Forestry.

Mr. Whiddon is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary Lillian Whiddon of Lake City; son, Heyward Ted Whiddon (Yuriko "Cookie") of Fleming Island, FL; daughters, Elaine W. Thomas (Leslie Taylor) and Representative Elizabeth Porter (Andrew) of Lake City; Sister, Joyce Butler of Nashville, GA; grandchildren, Trevor and Shannon Thomas of Lake City, Eric and Alex Whiddon, of Fleming Island, FL, and Erin and Drew Porter of Lake City; great grandchildren, Jordan Baroni, and Jai Bass both of Lake City.

Funeral services for Mr. Whiddon will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel in Lake City. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-6:00 P.M. Monday evening before the service at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M.
