Sylvia Ruth McNamara, 97 of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at her home in Lake City.  She was born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late Richard Francis Walsh Sr. and Sylvia M. Holmes Walsh.  Mrs. McNamara had made Lake City her home for the past 44 years having moved here from Dallas, TX.  She was of the Catholic faith and a member of Epiphany Catholic Church.  Mrs. McNamara was an avid golfer, member of the LPGA and ran the Jr. Golf program at the Lake City Country Club.  She enjoyed painting, crafting and was a true artist.  Above all, Mrs. McNamara loved spending time with her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren, taking them on numerous trips during the summer.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, Arthur Robert McNamara; and her brother, Richard F. Walsh, Jr.

Survivors include her two daughters, Sharon Covey, Tifton, GA and Ruth Anne DeWoody, Lake City; two grandchildren, Shea Covey Nizolek (Rob), San Antonio, TX and Christine Whitely (Scott), Lake City; and two great-grandchildren, Jared Nizolek, San Antonio, TX and Hayden Whitely, Lake City.

No services are scheduled at this time.  Per Mrs. McNamara's wishes, her cremated remains will be scattered at sea.
