Mrs. Susan D. Sparks, 73, of Lake City passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at her residence following a brief illness. A native of Decatur, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Jessie M. and Velma Davis Lamb and had lived in Decatur until moving to Lake City in 1954. A graduate of Columbia High School in 1968. She originally obtained her cosmetology license and worked as a beautician at Ruby's. She later graduated from Lake City Community College with a nursing degree. She worked at Lake Shore Hospital and then retired from Haven Hospice after many years. After retirement, Susan worked as a volunteer for The Pregnancy Care Center in Lake City. She also was very active in Pine Grove Baptist Church where she led Bible study, cooked for the congregation, and was involved with VBS. She enjoyed sewing, playing board games, cooking and spending as much time as she could with her family, especially her grandchildren. Susan was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Dean Lamb, and her sister, Patricia Cason Roberts.

Susan is survived by her husband Jimmy Sparks; sons, Clay Sparks and John Ross Sparks (Shawna); daughter, Vicki Sparks Boutwell (Jason); brother, J.E. Lamb (Donna); sisters, Darlene Smith (James), and Chriss DeMoss; grandchildren, Savannah, Brooks, and Knox Boutwell, Elizabeth and Junior Sparks, Mckenzie and Weston Sparks; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Susan Sparks will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 9, 2024 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Reverend James Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
