Sue Ellen Meek of Lake City died on Monday, October 8 at the age of 75. Mrs. Meek was born on August 20, 1943 in Rushville, Indiana, to the late Vance and Irene (Roberts) Hallgarth. She was the widow of her high-school sweetheart and lifelong love, Golay Meek, Jr., who passed in 2013. Sue and Golay were married on December 19, 1959 in Spiceland, Indiana. Mrs. Meek retired from North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville where she worked as a medical assistant. Mrs. Meek was a longtime member of New Life Christian Fellowship. Mrs. Meek was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Joan Hallgarth and Ruth Ann McCauley.

Survivors include her children, Kevin G. Meek (Peggy), Richmond, VA, Sheryl R. Turner (Rex), Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Brian Meek (Angela), Lake City, (Owner of the Lake City Bowl); one brother, Robert Hallgarth (Jane), Rushville, IN; one sister, Sara Keller (Everett), Mooreland, IN; three grandsons, three granddaughters and three great grandsons.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 12:30 PM at the New Life Christian Fellowship in Lake City with Pastor Buddy Malloy and Pastor Matt Glover officiating.  Visitation with the family will be two hours prior to the service at the church from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the New Life Christian Fellowship in memory of Mrs. Meek.
