Steven W. Brooker, 69 of Lake City, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Gainesville. Mr. Brooker was an only child to the late John William Brooker, Jr. and Beulah Frances Cason Brooker. He was born in Bellingham, Washington and had lived numerous places during his father's military career and made Lake City his home since 1969. Mr. Brooker was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1973 and was very athletic during his school years. He was raised in the Baptist faith and had previously attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Lake City where he had served as a Deacon. Mr. Brooker worked for many years in the building supply industry including Scotty's in Lake City and also Cannon and Wolfe Building Center in Live Oak. He was currently working as a Senior Rural Carrier with the United States Post Office in Lake City since 1990. He enjoyed his time with his sons as their Den Leader with Cub Scouts, reading, woodworking and working around his home. He also loved teaching his family about sports, following NASCAR and local race tracks and following Gator football. Mr. Brooker was an avid Civil War buff and loved learning about his ancestors who served during the war. Mr. Brooker was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Bridget Nicole Brooker.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Teresa Register Brooker of Lake City; his two sons, Kyle Brooker of Lake City and Dr. Ezra Brooker (Dr. Rachel Cooper) of Hamden, CT; and five grandchildren, Logan, Ember, Gavin, Destiny and Findley.
Funeral services for Mr. Brooker will be conducted on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 3:30 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery in the Mikesville Community. A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service on Friday from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
