LaPalma "Sonia" Duval Crawford, 90, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Thursday Morning, March 10, 2022 at Solaris Healthcare after an extended illness. She was born in Minden, West Virginia on August 1, 1931 to the late Charles Edward Duval and Mary Isabelle Blake Duval. She has made Lake City her home since 1968, moving from the Old Town area, but previously living in the Green Cove Springs area. She was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Wellborn. She and her husband owned the Biddy Buy Food Store and Campground for several years before retiring in the mid-1970s. In her spare time, she enjoyed refinishing antiques as well as collecting antiques. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Retired FHP Officer, Mercer Terrell "Biddy" Crawford, Jr. as well as four siblings.
She is survived by her two children, Paula Kay Phillips of Lake City and Fawn Crawford Elrod (Bill) of Green Cove Springs and her sister, Edna Fritsche of Minnesota. Six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also survive.
A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Crawford will be conducted on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. in the Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Wally Weaver officiating. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Mount Olive Baptist Church, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 5314 98th Terrace, Live Oak, FL, 32060.
