Ms. Sonia Roseline Adcock, 82, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Suwannee Valley Care Center (Haven Hospice) in Lake City, FL, following an extensive illness. She is the daughter of the late Ernest E. and Vilera D. Johnson Ward, born in Brunswick, Maine. Ms. Sonia had made Lake City her home since 1981 after moving here from Orange Park, FL. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church for many years and enjoyed participating in fish fries at the church. After being a homemaker, she was a nanny to several young children, she volunteered and worked in the school system with special needs children, and she volunteered with the Hospice Attic for a number of years. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, outdoor walking, and doing word search puzzles.

Ms. Sonia is survived by her three daughters Carrie Dopler (Brett) Live Oak, FL; Tina Shirley (Rick) Hawthorne, FL; and Michele Allen (David) Keystone Heights, FL, one brother Robert E. Ward, North Carolina. Five grandchildren Richard V. Shirley (Sarah), Brent D. Shirley, Kimberly Allen, Katherine Allen, and Kaitlyn Allen. Four great-grandchildren, Isabella Shirley, Shayla Shirley, Reagan Allen, and Harlynn Miller. Ms. Sonia was predeceased by six brothers and sisters.

A Memorial service for Ms. Sonia will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. At    Gateway -Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel in Lake City, FL at 11:00 A.M. Visitation with family will be from 10:30 A.M. until 11:00 am the day of service.
