Sister Matilde Dell'Oglio, 95 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by her Religious Sisters on June 5, 2025. She was a dedicated member of the Institute of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and devoted member and servant of Epiphany Catholic Church in Lake City.
Born May 27, 1930 in San Severo, Italy, Sister Matilde Dell'Oglio was the daughter of the late Michael and Terersa Mancini Dell'Oglio
Sister Matilde felt a calling to religious life at a young age and joined the Carmelite Sisters, where she embraced her role as a servant of God. She took her vows and began her ministry building, teaching and growing the community in both the United States and abroad with the last 24 years serving the community in Lake City. Throughout her many years of consecrated life, she served with unwavering dedication and joy.
Sister Matilde touched countless lives through her compassionate care and inspiring teaching. Her favorite hobby was sewing. Her love for God and commitment to serving others were evident in everything that she did.
She found solace and strength in prayer and scripture. Sister Matilde was known for her gentle spirit, infectious laughter, and deep wisdom. She was a source of inspiration and guidance for her religious community and all who knew her.
Sister Matilde is survived by her brother, Ciro Dell'Oglio, her nephew, Michael Dell'Oglio, and niece Teresa Dell'Oglio, and her devoted Carmelite Religious sisters with whom she shared a life of prayer and ministry.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Epiphany Catholic Church in Lake City Florida with Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Final Burial will take place at Mount Olivet in Washington DC on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM. A time visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, followed by a Rosary at 6:30 and concluding with a Vigil starting at 7:00 PM, all at Epiphany Catholic Church.
