Shirley "Buck" Waldon Slater, of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. He was born in Whipple, West Virginia to the late William and Marie [Rapp] Slater and has lived here in Columbia County for the past 40 years. "Buck" was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and going to his favorite place to eat, Arby's. He is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 45 years, Doris Jane Slater (1993).
Survivors include his son, Scott Slater; daughter, Stacey (Tad) Cervantes of Lake City, FL; grandchildren, Matthew (Jarica) Turner and Samantha (Austin) Lawrence; son in law, Dennis (Euihee) Turner: brother in law, Cheeta Reed.
