Shirley V. Nettles, 87 of Lake City, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City.  She was born in Olustee, Florida to the late George Washington and Mollie Nettles Newman.  Mrs. Nettles was a lifelong resident of Lake City, a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1956 and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Price Creek Ward.  She worked for many years at Cracker Barrel and enjoyed  crocheting, cooking, traveling, spending time with her family and grandchildren and more recently, doing her diamond dot artwork.  Mrs. Nettles was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Nevin C. Nettles; and her siblings, Winnie Newman, Mildred Newman, Katherine Powell, Rebecca Kerce and Roscoe Newman.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Nettles (Cheryle), Timothy Nettles (Charlotte) and Scott Nettles (Tracy) all of Lake City; her daughter, Belinda Boyd, Lake City; fifteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nettles will be conducted on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Price Creek Ward on Old Country Club Road.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.  A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
