Obituary

Samuel F. "Frank" Sweat, passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at the Shands Medical Center in Gainesville, Florida after a short illness.  He was born in Mulberry, Florida on April 6, 1940 to John Cecil Sweat Sr. and Roberta Inez Morris.  He graduated from the University of Tampa and held degrees in mathematics, physics, chemistry, business administration, meteorology and real estate.  He made the North Florida area his home off and on since 1970.  He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War as a US Naval pilot stationed aboard the USS Enterprise and USS Independence with 16 years of service.  He worked as a chemist in the phosphate mining industry and water treatment industry.    Mr. Sweat was preceded in death by his father, John Cecil Sweat Sr.; his mother, Roberta Inez Morris Sweat; and brothers, John Cecil Sweat Jr. and Robert Sweat.

He is survived by his wife, Janice L. Sweat; his children of previous marriage, Daniel F. Sweat (Kim), Tanya Shaffer (Ron) and Nathaniel A. Sweat all of Lake City.  He is also survived by  his grandchildren, Katie Terrio (JT), John-Aubrey Sweat, Whitney Park (Eric), Marsee Peeler (Alan), Hannah Shaffer, Dalton Sweat and Dillon Sweat; and great-grandchildren, Walker Park and Emarie Park.

Memorial services for Mr. Sweat will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will follow.
