Mrs. Ruthie "Ruth" Harden Lunsford, 88 of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center. Mrs. Lunsford was born in Alma, Georgia to the late Willie and Mattie Dean Sweat and had lived most of her life in Lake City. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church for over 60 years and served on many committees as well as serving as a Sunday School Teacher and Church Clerk. Mrs. Lunsford owned the Five Points Beauty Shop and Ruth's Beauty Shop combined for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her son, E.B. "Sonny" Harden and her brother and sister in law, Elbridge L. "Buddy" and Dorothy Sweat.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, James E. "Jim" Lunsford, Lake City; her daughter –in-law, Sarah Crews, Lake City; her adopted son, John L. (Adriene) Lewis, Lakeland, GA; two grandchildren, Donald (Elaine) Harden and Cindi (Mark) Boatright both of Lake City; four great-grandchildren, Rebecca (David) Boyd, Lake City, Boaty (Lacey) Boatright, Lulu, Bethany (Justin) Jenkins, Lake City and Kyla Boatright, Lake City; nine great-great grandchildren; and 3 nieces and 1 nephew also survives.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. James Roberts officiating assisted by Rev. Ron Thompson and Rev. Craig Henderson. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations to be made to Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center at 6037 W US Hwy 90, Lake City, Fl 32025.
