Mrs. Ruth N. Johnson, 89 of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Solaris Healthcare of Lake City.  She was born in Hagerstown, Maryland to the late Clarence and Naomi Cook Berklite.  Mrs. Johnson had made her home in Lake City since 1957 having moved here from Hagerstown, Maryland.  She was of the Baptist faith and a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church.  Mrs. Johnson was the past president of both the Garden Club of Lake City and the Women's Club of Lake City with 30 plus years of membership in each.  She was also on the board of the Counsel on Aging for 10 years and the Citizen's Advisory Committee of the Lake City Correctional Institution.  Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her loving husband, James "Jimmy" Johnson in 2007; one son, Robert J. "B.J." Taylor in 2005; three grandsons, Dwayne Bullard, Jessie Roberts and James Arrington; one granddaughter, Celena Taylor; and one great granddaughter, Lilly May Hoffer.

Survivors include her son, Tim and Melinda Griffith, Lake City; six daughters, Susie and Red Roberts, Lake City, Nancy and John McDowell, Orlando, Lorraine and David Odom, Tallahassee, Robyn Arrington and Denise Hanna, Lake City, Faith Ann and Jim Hoffer, Huntingdon, PA and Jamie and Donnie Cray, Lake City; one brother, Robert Murphy, Fort White; one sister, Sharon and Larry Kenney, Silver Springs, MD; 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Rodriguez officiating.  Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Sunday evening from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home.
