Russell Lean Smith, Jr., 66, of Bell, Florida passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lake City, Florida.
Born January 16, 1949 in Gainesville, Florida to the late Russell and Mary Smith. Mr. Smith grew up in High Springs, Florida, was of the Baptist Faith. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Russell Leon worked at Copeland's Sausage Company for 17 years, then worked for 6 years at the City of Hobbs, New Mexico, in the water department, also other years he worked at various jobs. He loved country music, westerns, fishing, animals, and enjoyed and appreciated people.
Survivors include his son; Steve Smith, of Suwannee, Ga., sisters; Ann (Veron) Overstreet, of High Springs, Fl., Irene (Jerrel) Durden, of Alachua, Fl., grandson: Bryce Watson, of Australia, nephews; Randy Durden, Keith Durden, Kevin Durden, and numerous cousins and friends also survive.
Graveside Services for Mr. Russell Leon will be conducted at 3:00pm, Monday, October 19, 2015 at Jonesville Cemetery, 17745 S.W. 15th Ave, Newberry, Fl., 32669, with Pastor Mike Lee officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:00pm, Monday, October 19, 2015 at the cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 3596 S.
