Roy Raymond “Ramie” Rickett was born on May 17, 1962, in Gainesville, FL, to the late Roy A. Rickett & Marion Louise Tomlinson Rickett. He suddenly and unexpectedly went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 19, 2026, in Lake City, FL.
He spent his younger years in Alachua, FL, prior to making Branford, FL, his home for the past 29 years.
He was a 1980 graduate of Santa Fe High School. During school, he played baseball. After graduating, he was quite the softball player and spent many days and nights on the field, all over the place. After high school, he went on to work for Coastline Air Conditioning, then Energizer for a brief time. He then began working at Clay Electric, which he retired from in January of 2025, after 29 years of service.
He started dating the love of his life, Peggy, in 1997, and they got married in 2004. They were true soulmates, best friends, and spent all their time together. Where you saw one, you saw the other. They enjoyed all the same things, which most recently included getting to travel, thrifting, antiquing, and spending all their time together.
When he married Peggy, he became a father to three beautiful daughters: Kendra, Kelli, and Kaylin. But it wasn’t until 2016 that he earned his most prized title of “Papa.” He loved his wife and his daughters, but he really loved his grandbabies. He spoiled them every chance he got.
Ramie enjoyed collecting models of cars, old trinkets, spending time with his family, spending too much money on grandkids, trying to win the Florida Lottery, and never giving up on being the first one to find Sasquatch.
Ramie was preceded in death by his parents, Roy A. Rickett and Marion Louise Tomlinson Rickett, and his mother-in-law, Margie Cannon Young.
Ramie is survived by: his wife Peggy Young Thomas Rickett, his sister: Renee Sykes, his aunt and uncle, Johnny & Margie Tomlinson, (who he considered his second parents) daughters: Kendra Crews (Dustin), Kelli Thomas (Phillip Taylor), Kaylin Harmon (Tyler), his grandchildren: Kenlyn, Kandyn, Kaibryn, Stetson, Addyson, PJ, & Aspen, and niece Nicki Sykes and nephew Brandon Sykes, a brother-in-law, Eugene Young (Rita), sister-in laws Wanda Hart (Hyman), and Pat Young along with a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service for Mr. Roy “Ramie” Raymond Rickett will be conducted on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Robert Bradow officiating, assisted by Pastor Chad Rogers. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Branford, FL. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M., prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction and care of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 3596 S. US HWY 441, Lake City, FL, 32025, 386-752-1954.
