August 17, 1960 – February 20, 2025
Ronnie Carl Gaskins, 64 of Wellborn, passed away after a short illness and a valiant fight at his home on Thursday, February 20, 2025, with his family at his side. Ronnie was born in Lake City to the late Randall Gaskins and Vernice Williams Gaskins. He was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1978 and had made his home in the Lake City and Wellborn communities all of his life. Ronnie was raised in the Church of God faith and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family, children and grandchildren. He worked for many years at Occidental Chemical in White Springs. More recently, he worked for himself with Ronnie Gaskins Trucking and also assisting with storm debris cleanup following our recent hurricanes. Mr. Gaskins was an exceptional woodworker and carpenter making furniture for his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, going to the Gulf and taking trips to the mountains. Mr. Gaskins was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Shane Gaskins; and one brother, Tony Gaskins.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Carole Kinard Gaskins, Wellborn; his two daughters, Jennifer Lorraine Cameron (Alex), Live Oak and Lindsey Brooke Cook (Robert), Monticello; one brother, Roy Gaskins (Vickie), Jasper; his sister, Angie Sistrunk (Raleigh), Lake City; ten grandchildren, Devan Cameron (Manning), Darcy Cameron, Mason Cameron, Macey Cameron, Maybreigh Cameron, Taylor Shipp, Logan Shipp, Johnny Cook, Makayla Cook and Sadie Gaskins; one great-granddaughter due in September of 2025; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Gaskins will be conducted on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Randy Ogburn officiating. Interment will follow at Williams Cemetery in Watertown. A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel on Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
