Ronald E. Ward, age 89, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2024. Ron was born on October 21, 1934, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was a U.S. Navy Korean War era veteran and was employed for 32 years by Florida Power & Light in Naples, Florida. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and along with his wife, a worthy Patron and Matron of the Eastern Star in 1968. After retirement, he and his wife relocated to Ft. White Florida in 1997 where he was active in the Masons, Shriners, the Ft. White United Methodist Church, and the local community. Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sue Axford Ward, his mother, Violet, father Melvin, his sister Mary Ellen Leeper (Houston) his brother Richard, sister Jane and niece, Peggy Armstrong.
He is survived by his sons Charles Comiskey (Barbara); Ronald B. Ward (Rose Hla); daughter Shay Santos (Michael); grandchildren Gregory Comiskey (Crystal), Sarah Collins (Mack), Elizabeth Curtis (Adam), and Casey Santos; five great grandchildren; brothers Maxie Ward (Cookie), Tab Ward (Tina), along with dearest nieces and nephew, Jack Leeper, Barbara Hasselmayer, Joanne Townsend, and Patricia Leeper.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Ft. White Community Church (formerly United Methodist) 185 SW Well Street, Ft. White Florida, 32038, Phone 386-497-1742 on February 4, 2024, with Pastor Mike Brecheen. A Memorial Fellowship in the church hall at 1:00 PM will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Fort White Community Church, 185 SW Well Street, Fort White, FL 32038. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
