Robert Lawrence Lites, 87, of Fort White, passed away peacefully on Thursday Afternoon, September 12, 2024 at the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City after an extended illness. He was born in Fort White on March 15, 1937 to the late Tommie Lites and Hennie Mae Smith Lites. He was a life-long resident of Fort White and worked for a number of years with the Florida Department of Corrections before retiring and was a United States Army Veteran. In his spare time, he enjoyed working with electronics, he was a wiz when it came to them; and enjoyed wood working and building furniture. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan Marie Thompson Lites; daughter, Lisa Ann Swearingen; brother, Larry Lites; and sisters, Mary Frances Phillips and Annette Frantz.

He is survived by his siblings, Gerald Lites (Arden) of California, Garry Lites (Debra) of Fort White and Imogene "Jean" Graham of Fort White.

A funeral service for Mr. Lites will be conducted on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Mikesville Presbyterian Church with Pastor Shirley Mergan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Sunday afternoon, September 15, 2024 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
