Mr. Robert Edward Johns Jr. (Bobby), 81, of Lake City, FL went home to be with the Lord on June 19, 2024, after an extended illness. He was surrounded by his family and under the care of Haven Hospice of Lake City. Mr. Johns was born in 1942 in Gulfport, MS to Robert Edward Johns Sr. (Ed) and Evelyn Birt Johns. He was raised on a farm near Gainesville, FL and graduated from Gainesville High School in 1960.  In 1964 he joined the Florida State Road Department (now the Florida Department of Transportation) and provided dedicated, continuous service until he retired in December 2003 as the District Maintenance Engineer for District 2.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gail Parnell Johns of Lake City, one sister Kay Force, two adult children, son,  Scott (Kim) Johns and daughter, Vickie.  Mr. Johns took great joy in his six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Additionally, he cherished many nieces who held a special place in his heart.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 2:00 PM on June 24, 2024 at Hopeful Baptist Church in Lake City. Visitation with the family will occur 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Haven Hospice.
