Robert Richard Fremer, age 71 passed away on September 20, 2024 in Hospice at the Lake City FL VA Medical Center.  Bob was diagnosed in May with stage 4 metastatic cancer and fought to have meaningful last memories.  Bob was the youngest son of John and Ethel Fremer (nee Bowcock), longtime residents of Inverness, both of whom were very active in the community and members of First Lutheran Church. The altar in the church was donated in memory of their daughter and Bob's sister Carolyn Fremer Louie.

Bob was born in Staten Island, N.Y. and was graduated from St. John's Lutheran School and Curtis High School and attended the University of Miami.  He joined the U.S. Air Force and was  stationed in Texas.  Bob learned the trades necessary for building houses and carpentry became his most proficient.  His hobbies were woodworking, chess and for many years wrote letters to our family that were well received.   Bob enjoyed blue claw crabbing and fishing, a shared enjoyment with our father.  He had an infectious sense of humor and was kind and caring.  Bob spent many years helping to take care of his father who became paralyzed and lived with and took care of his mother.

Bob was close and admired by his niece and nephew Kim Marie Jamaleddine and Fred Patrick Brandkamp respectively and great nieces Jacqueline, Caroline and Tonymarie Jamaleddine and great nephews Michael and Joseph and their father, Eddie Jamaleddine. In addition, Bob is survived by his sister Barbara Jane Brandkamp and brother John J. Fremer.  Interment will be Monday, November 4, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
