Captain Robert (Bob) T. Frampton, SC USN RETIRED, 88, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on December 10, 2021. Born in Jacksonville on August 21, 1933, Bob was the devoted husband of the late Verdie Inman Frampton (nee Buie) of Lake City, FL. They were married in Lake City in 1955. Bob was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, the University of Florida ('55 B.S in Business Administration) and the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA ('70 M.S. in Management). He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1983. Duty stations included Officer Candidate School in Providence, RI; the former NAS Cecil Field in Jacksonville, FL; NAS Key West, FL; Naples, Italy; two tours in Washington, DC including the Pentagon and Crystal City, VA; Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Norfolk, VA; Aviation Supply Office in Philadelphia, PA; NAS Lemoore in Lemoore, CA; and NAS North Island in San Diego, CA. Capt. Frampton saw service on two Naval ships during his career, the Destroyer Lloyd Thomas out of Newport, RI and the Destroyer Tender Tidewater out of Norfolk, VA. After retiring from the Navy in 1983, he worked for National Steel and Shipbuilding from 1983 to 1985 and ROH, Inc. from 1985 through 1992. Bob was an active member of the Lee High School Alumni organization and a past member of the Board of Directors for the Mayport Chapter of the Military Officers Association.
Bob is survived by sons Robert and wife Martha of Sewell, NJ; Mark and wife Janet of Jacksonville, FL; Gary and wife Barbara of Lake City, FL as well as grandchildren William and wife Mary Lou, Matthew, Amanda, Brianne, Elizabeth Joyce, and husband Anthony Shrubsall, and great grandson Kevin Shrubsall.
