Obituary

Robert Key DePratter, known to all as "Rocky D.," passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at the age of 65 after a long and courageous battle with cancer, which he had fought since 2015.

Born on December 15, 1959, Rocky was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was known for his lively spirit, love for his family, and deep roots in the Lake City and Deep Creek communities. Before his illness, Rocky was always on the move—cheering on his grandkids at practices and games, taking them to the park, and spending time with his friends laughing, cooking out, and watching sports.

A proud Gator football fan and long-time racing supporter of Jeff Gordon, Rocky never missed a Daytona 500. He loved racing, hunting, especially dog hunting, WWE, and all things sports, with football at the top of the list. He also had a soft spot for riding the dirt roads of Deep Creek and catching up with folks while riding through town.

Rocky worked for the City of Lake City for 18 years as a utility locator, and before that, he spent 18 years at the Occidental Chemical Plant. Known for his big heart and bigger personality, he never met a stranger and made a lasting impression wherever he went.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billye and Charles DePratter, and his brother Charles (Chuggie) DePratter. He is survived by his loving wife, Angie DePratter; his children: Cory DePratter, Bo Powell (Michelle), Michelle Hammett, Kelsey Park, and Heather Hall; and his grandchildren: Jayden, Brantly, Christopher, Saint, Dakota, Dylan, Drake, Mackenzie, Evelynn, Taylor, Dalton, Deseray, Dylan, Nicholas, Damien, Curtis and Harold. Rocky is also survived by his brothers: Randy (Suzy), Rusty (Vickie), Reed (Kathy), and Ray (Stacey), and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Monday, June 23rd, from 5-7 PM.  A celebration of Rocky's life will be held at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 24th at 10 AM with interment to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Union County.
