Mr. Richard (Rick) Keith Gorman, 75, passed away at Suwannee Valley Care Center (Haven Hospice) in Lake City, FL, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, following an extended illness.
He was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Gorman. He had made Lake City his home for many years after moving there from West Palm Beach, FL. He was a member of the 1974 graduating class at Nova University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in English Literature. He attended church at Christ Central Ministries.
Rick was an avid reader and writer who also enjoyed photography, cooking, Atlanta Braves baseball, and spending time at the beach. In 2004, he co-founded The New Generation Christian School in Lake City and later founded New Generation Christian School in Live Oak, FL.
He is survived by his life partner, Dr. Toni Briley of Lake City, FL; his children, Sunshine Gorman of Boynton Beach, FL; William Clem, III (Patty) of Lake City, FL; Douglas Clem of Lake City, FL; Denise Johnson of Lake City, FL; Kai Daugherty (Patrick) of Lawrenceville, GA; and Kristi Esteves (Tony) of Sugar Hill, GA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life with the family will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Troy Appling officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
