Rex Monroe Silvers, 91 of Lake City, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at his home. He was born in Burnsville, North Carolina to the late Joseph Ervin Silvers and Cordelia Silvers. Mr. Silvers was a longtime resident of Lake City and worked for many years with Hackney Brothers. He enjoyed gardening; woodworking, tinkering and he could build anything out of nothing. Mr. Silvers loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Johnnie Mae Barclay Silvers; his brother, Vernon Silvers; three children, Diane Alford, David Silvers and Steven Erskin; and two grandsons, David and Joey.
Survivors include his children, Dennis Silvers (Hazel), Manilla, Philippines, Jeanna Drinkard (Bob), Janice Silvers, Jackie Shiver and Michael Erskin all of Lake City; one sister, Joanne Pressley, Swannanoa, NC; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-grandchildren also survive.
A celebration of life will be held at the Lake City Church of God at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Mr. Silvers will be laid to rest at Memorial Cemetery with his late wife.
