Rev. Donald Keith Hembree

Reverend Donald Keith Hembree, 92, of Lake City passed away on March 29, 2026 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lake City. A native of Loogootee, Indiana, he was the son of the late Robert Alvin and Mabel Eldena McCord Hembree.. He was a graduate of Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois with a Bachelor of Divinity, and received his Masters Degree from Indiana State. Reverend Hembree started as a Methodist Minister in Prairie Creek, Indiana and retired as the Chaplain of Lake City V.A. Medical Center. Don had been a resident of Lake City for 52 years having moved here from Jefferson, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Sue Hembree in 2022, and his sister, Linda Allen.

Reverend Hembree is survived by his son Timothy K. Hembree (Marcelle); daughter, Tamara Sue Stone; brothers Robert Eugene Hembree, Harold Hembree, and Edward Hembree (Carole); sister, Carolyn McGuire; grandchildren, Shae Stone (Danielle), Garrett Stone (Brittanie), Trevor Newby, Kelsie McCarty (Devon), Madison Cruz (Darwin); great grandchildren, Ryder Smith Parker, Jasper Smith, Roman Cruz, Gema Cruz, Naidyn Stone, Annistyn Stone, Shalynn Stone, Ryatt Stone, Anabella Stone.

Memorial Services for Reverend Hembree will be conducted at First Methodist Church in Lake City on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Tim Dunavant officiating.
