Obituary

Mr. Raymond T. LaFaso passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at a relatives home in Deland, FL at the age of 79.  Born in Hackensack, New Jersey, Mr. LaFaso served in the Air Force for 8 years.  Mr. LaFaso made his home in Lake City for the past 14 years having previously lived in Hendersonville, NC and Netcong, NJ.  Mr. LaFaso selflessly volunteered his time at the Lake City VA Medical Center helping other veterans.  Mr. LaFaso was an active member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) and a lifetime member of Disable Veterans.  Mr. LaFaso, known for his warmth consideration and infectious smile, Ray as he was called, devoted himself to MOPH and volunteering.  He was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the Kedron Masonic Lodge #387 and the Hendersonville Shrine Club both in Hendersonville, NC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Sue LaFaso in 2015, his parents, Anthony R. and Nellie Starr LaFaso, one brother, Gary LaFaso in 2007 and his son, Gordon Scott Bennett in 1996.

Survivors include one son, George Keith Bennett, Charlotte, NC; one daughter, D. Diane Klatte (Jimmy), Eagle, CO; one brother, Larry LaFaso (Pat)  Hackettstown, NJ; two grandchildren, Christopher and Jason Klatte, Eagle, CO; three nieces, Debbie LaFaso-Garrison, Lori LaFaso and Michelle LaFaso-Wehmeyer; two nephews, Terry LaFaso and Gary LaFaso.

Mr. LaFaso's ashes will be interred in Hendersonville, NC with his wife at a later date.
