Randy Cornell Acklin, 77, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, August 13, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas on July 18, 1947, the oldest of three children to the late Gorden Acklin and Joyce Ham Acklin. He served his country in the United States Navy, where he retired from after 24 ½ years of service. He then went to work for the USPS as a clerk, where he worked for over 20 years, retiring in 2017. He was a faithful member of the Maxville Assembly of God. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Acklin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynneda Raye King of Lake City; daughters, Rhonda Jo Callen (Michael) of Macclenny, Kelly Nicole Adams (Phillip) of Macclenny, Rachel Suzanne Eddings (Steven) of McAlpin and Michele Roseanne Peeler (Randall) of Fleming Island; and his brother, Gary Acklin of Henderson, NV. Eight grandchildren along with many extended family and friends also survive.
A funeral service for Mr. Acklin will be conducted on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Linda Adkins officiating, assisted by Pastor Glen Weatherly. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
